We are currently seeking an Executive Director for the Enterprise
Financial Services (EFS) - Home Entertainment General Ledger &
Record to Report Accounting department. This position will be
responsible for Global Games general accounting activities,
record-to-report processes, licensing, invoice-to-cash function for
digital/mobile royalties and consolidation of global financial
results. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for
Global Home Entertainment Film Accounting including Games' Asset
Amortization and Participations, as well as overseeing operating
activities handled by the Service Delivery Center (SDC).
Games is a dynamic and growing business unit and the ideal
candidate must have a strong technical accounting background and be
comfortable with proposing and implementing new initiatives to
executive leadership in order to support an evolving business. The
specific responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team in the execution of general accounting
activities for the Games Business Unit including: general ledger
management, account reconciliation review, financial statement
review and reporting submissions.
- Ensuring timeliness and accuracy of overall monthly close
activities including integrity and completeness of the general
ledger, Home Office consolidation and compliance with US GAAP
accounting for the various lines of business (physical, digital,
and mobile distribution models, production/development studios,
licensing, costing, and intercompany eliminations).
- Managing the Games' monthly/quarterly close deliverables
submitted to the WB Corporate Financial Reporting group including
by-title submissions, causes of change explanations, balance sheet
flux, footnotes, supplemental schedules, SOX compliance and
quarterly representation letter.
- Acting as primary liaison for the EFS organization in
connection with the Business Unit and various WB Corporate
departments (Policies, Financial Reporting group, Tax, Treasury,
Legal, Participations); be actively involved in assessing and
implementing accounting policies relating to accounting treatment
guidance (e.g. Revenue Recognition) in accordance with US
- Managing Games' costing (Film Accounting for Games), working
with Business Unit Finance and Production Studios to review
Ultimates for in-process and released titles on a monthly basis and
identify areas of risk and opportunity; determining amortization
rates and perform impairment testing for titles which are costed
within the group and ensure appropriate entries are reflected in
the general ledger; overseeing the accounting of cross-company
charges and intercompany eliminations for internal IP rights
licensing to support the WB consolidation process.
- Overseeing the invoice-to-cash function for digital/mobile
games monthly royalties including; statement processing, cash
collection and application, and act as primary finance point of
contact for external customers for all reporting and remittance
related matters; supporting the cash reporting and forecasting
functions as well as manage accounts receivable aging and P&L
- Overseeing the accounting for symbolic IP licensing deals,
provide detailed reporting to the business unit and assist in deal
assessments and trending analysis for business decision support;
participating in meetings with Business Development regarding
licensee status in order to assist with the forecasting
- Coordinating with Sales/Business Administration on determining
third party reporting requirements for participants, co-publishing
partners and publishers, establishing and maintaininng business
processes for compliance within EFS (i.e. periodic reporting and
statement preparation), acting as primary finance point of contact
for Corporate Participations and Deal Management teams to set up
third-party reporting requirements in the system and to
address/consult on financial reporting questions, providing support
for third party participation and royalty audits and advise on
audit settlement negotiations.
- Developing staff into future WB financial leaders with business
and accounting knowledge, and a customer service mindset; driving
key process improvement and standardization projects, working with
EFS VP to set priorities for the department and be able to help in
all problem resolution matters, striving to make our SDC partner
successful and create professional development opportunities for
- Partnering with Home Entertainment Legal & Business Affairs to
provide guidance on accounting/financial implications of contracts
with participants, co-publishing partners and publishers, and
assist with reviewing contract terms to achieve desired
- Continuously look to improve operating effectiveness and
efficiency within EFS/SDC activities and seek opportunities to
eliminate nonvalue-added work including developing and identifying
best practices and ensuring they are shared across groups within
the EFS, the SDC and the retained finance organizations, where
relevant; embracing standardization to reduce and eliminate
variability in processes and work with other EFS/SDC team members
to solve challenging issues.
- Ensuring appropriate accounting recognition and SOX controls
have been followed, and update procedures as needed; serve as
primary point of contact on all internal and external audit
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business
Administration or other related field along with CPA; MBA
- Minimum 10 years' experience in public or private
- Excellent managerial skills.
- Entertainment industry experience a plus, preferably knowledge
in games or home entertainment.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures,
including familiarity with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as this is a
high-visibility role that interacts with various departments and
executives across the organization.
- Proficiency in a variety of systems: High level Excel
experience preferred (macros, pivot tables, lookup functions);
Microsoft Word; SAP & BW experience.
- Strong to advanced knowledge and understanding of ASC 926
Entertainment-Films, ASC 985 Software, and ASC 606 Revenue from
Contracts with Customers.
- Ability to design, review and revise various types of financial
information: reports, schedules, journal entries, etc.
- Flexibility with hours including overtime if necessary and
ability to travel domestically & internationally as needed.
