Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join our high-performing Program Management Team in Burbank, CA. Program Managers are accountable for the management related to product development, including planning, monitoring, control, and closeout of assigned engineering product development and product modification projects in alignment with Project Management Institute best practices. Work directly with Customers, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to bring projects to full development. Responsible for the management of one or more product development projects, including product re-designs. Assignments will be to specific projects that are defined and controlled by in-house or customer directed specifications. Supervision is minimal with Senior Program Managers being allowed broad latitude in development of personal management style. Effectiveness is primarily evaluated through program success measured by accomplishment of program cost control, schedule milestones adherence, and overall product and process quality. Secondary measurement of performance is through conferences, reports and review of accomplishments. This position requires a basic working knowledge of program management requirements and techniques in an engineering product development environment. Efficient application requires good communication skills, maturity and exceptional ability to lead and interact with people. Responsibilities: Program Planning: Plan programs from go-ahead to close-out, using a Work Breakdown Structure, Risk Management, Communication Management, and Schedule Management including major milestone requirements extending downward to finite detailed schedules in sufficient detail to effectively manage the complete life-cycle development of Aerospace products. Create, monitor, and update program plans in sufficient detail which define the required processes/activities of various functional groups to achieve customer-defined milestones/deliverables. Customer Coordination: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers through frequent oral and written communication. Coordinate technical and program progress reviews required by customers Transition to Production: Facilitate a complete and orderly transition of the product from the program's engineering design and development phase to full scale production through a standardized production readiness review process. Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and motivate Integrated Product Team (IPT) through effective utilization of personnel assigned to the project from all functional groups within the company. Coordinate sufficient in-house product reviews with various functional groups to ensure product designs can be manufactured and profitable while satisfying customer specifications. Develop and ensure adherence to standard processes and procedures throughout all phases of the program. Coordinate with supply chain and operations team members to facilitate the new product introduction process that satisfies program hardware delivery requirements. Mentor and oversee projects managed by assigned Project Managers. Proposal Review: Review and evaluate technical and business aspects of customer requests for proposals and/or change requests. Lead the preparation of customer bid packages and internal project appropriation requests including coordination and review of statement of work, technical proposals, engineering cost estimates, and program schedules. Scope Management: Proactively manage project scope to ensure only what was agreed to is delivered. Ensure changes in scope are thoroughly documented and approved through a standardized change management process prior to investing company resources. Cost Management: Monitor and control program costs associated with non-recurring engineering activities during the Design and Development phases of the program. Maintain project team focus on the initial business model and design to cost targets related to recurring product cost. Issue/Risk Management: Identify, track, manage, and assist in resolving program issues. Identify, manage, and assist in mitigation of program risks (technical, schedule, and cost) through a standardized risk management process. Metrics & Progress Reviews: Proactively disseminate project information to stakeholders (core team, leadership team, and customers) by defining, collecting data for, and presenting program metrics in a standardized program review/audit process. Metrics include program schedule, costs, and completion of program deliverables. Conduct sufficient in-house design reviews per Aerospace Group Product Development Process to assure program products are manufacturable and profitable while meeting customer specifications. Minimum Requirements: Experience: Minimum Five (5) years of experience in program/project management or related project leadership position working on electronics hardware with embedded software. Aerospace experience highly desired. Knowledge: Embedded Aerospace product development and program/project management sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility. Skills & Abilities: Maturity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of company personnel Ability to plan, organize, manage, and control one or more programs Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Good business sense, with a fundamental understanding of business initiatives and company-wide activities both within and outside of the engineering discipline. Proficiency in Microsoft Project and other PC based office tools Possess sufficient Electrical/Mechanical/Technical aptitude to understand operation of electronics and electro/mechanical devices Education: Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or business administration is required. Electronics engineering preferred. MBA or comparable advanced management degree preferred. Formal Training in Program or Systems Management and Program Management Institute Certified preferred.
