Job DescriptionThe Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport is seeking an energetic, positive, self starting HR Coordinator to take on the challenge of a unique position within a 488-room hotel that boasts 50,000 square feet of event space. The Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport is conveniently located near Hollywood and Universal Studios in the center of the entertainment hub. Our property provides complimentary meals, employee events, great hotel discounts at over 5,700 hotels world-wide and perks for local events & attractions!Position Purpose: To fill available positions in order for hotel to function with a complete staff by following the recruiting standards, immigration, and EEOC guidelines in a professional and expedient manner.Examples of Duties:To fill available positions in order for hotel to function with a complete staff by following the recruiting standards, immigration, and EEOC guidelines in a professional and expedient manner.Perform initial screening interview with qualified candidate by engaging in conversation that will give insight into information such as an individuals' experience, ability and interest in an available position.Conducts telephone and written reference checks on qualified applicants by asking their previous employer(s) questions to gather information such as a previous employee's performance and attitude in order to assist in making a hiring decision. Processes paperwork including requisition process and hiring documentation organizes and maintains position records.Extends job offers contingent upon passing drug test by calling the qualified candidates on the telephone and explaining the procedure.Conducts New Hire Orientation training by using many types of media such as slides, videos, and music to welcome new employees and inform them of the history of, policies, procedures and philosophies. Instruct new employees in completion of necessary paperwork. Visually reviews documents for accuracy.Prepares and distributes weekly typed list of positions and position purposes.Consults with department managers as to current openings and status of interviewed candidates. Conducts Interviewing skills seminar for managers.Other:Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate Hotel rules and regulation will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Supportive Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. Uses a photocopy machine to copy weekly typed positions and position purposes and distributes them by placing in staff mailboxes, posting them on bulletin boards throughout the hotel and mailing them to individuals listed on recruiting sources list. Serves as a leader in various employee-training programs such as Interviewing Techniques, Priority One, and First Line Supervisor by studying material and encouraging participation in a classroom style setting. Other duties as assigned by Director of Human Resources such as assisting with benefits coordination.Experience and SkillsJob Knowledge skills and abilityThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Some knowledge of EEOC and employment laws. Ability to work under strict deadlines. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to read and speak the English language fluently. Ability to effectively deal with employees and applicants, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information.Education:Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. College diploma preferred.Experience:One year prior comparable human resources experience preferred.
