COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan
Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children
experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and
long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of
Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue
missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los

DRIVER, CLASS B POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the
Transportation Manager, the Class B Driver is responsible for
shuttling employees and residents to and from program scheduled
activities. Class B Driver must maintain the cleanliness of the
vehicles and assist in other operations as required. DRIVER, CLASS
B CORE WORK PRINCIPLE: Colossians 3:23 is the foundation of URM’s

motives or agendas. DRIVER, CLASS B ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide
shuttle services for employees and residents primarily for Hope
Gardens, but not limited to this location. Drive a school bus,
transports, and other assigned vehicles. Always maintain a clean
and mechanically sound bus/vehicle. Obey all traffic laws. Follow a
planned bus route servicing the Hope Gardens student population.
Perform school bus inspections and any company vehicle, at the
start and end of shift. Must meet physical and medical requirements
and pass substance abuse screening; as a safety-sensitive employee,
will be subject to random substance abuse screening under company
policy. Exercise student management through communication and
discipline, per company policy; and always maintain control of
student passengers to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle.
Report on time for duty and operate vehicles and assigned tasks, as
directed. Adjust to different shift schedules (Reg. and OT) to meet
department needs. Pick up donations from various locations and
physically load and unload at distribution facilities, as needed.
Assist at the distribution facilities, as needed. Conduct other
tasks and projects as assigned by the Transportation Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: In general, the following physical demands are
representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Reasonable accommodation may be made to allow differently abled

able to lift 75 lbs. Will be seated and driving 90% of assigned
shift. Physically touch most parts of the assigned vehicle, when
performing an inspection. Apply and/or add fluid (coolant,
windshield fluid, motor, power steering, and transmission oil) to
assigned vehicle. DRIVER, CLASS B WORK ENVIRONMENT: In general, the
following conditions of the work environment are representative of
those that an employee encounters while performing the essential
functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to

functions of the job within the environment. This position does
drive out on the roadways in all weather conditions – sun, wind,
rain etc.; will also come upon traffic hazards and various road
conditions. Requirements DRIVER, CLASS B EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND
LICENSURES: High School Diploma or 3 years equivalent work
experience. Required California Driver’s License, Class B. Required
Passenger Endorsement Certification for school bus operation.
Required School Bus Driver certification for school bus operation.
Air Brake endorsement, preferred. Medical Card certificate,
preferred. First Aid Card, preferred. T-01 Training records updated
for school bus operation, preferred. Must be able to be insured
under the company’s auto insurance policy. DRIVER, CLASS B
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively
both orally and in writing. Operational knowledge of company
vehicles and equipment (Pallet Jacks, Lift Trucks, and Electric
Pallet Jacks) in a safe manner. Knowledge of roadways in the
Southern California area. Ability to interpret and create vehicle
reports (inspection, repair, driver log, and hour of service). Must
be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly to communicate with
others. Must have a clean driving record. Must submit to random
drug testing as required by the California Department of
Transportation. Must have the ability to organize workload for
effective implementation. ZR Salary Description $25.00-$28.00
(Depending on Experience)
