Job Description:

The Payroll Operations Support Specialist primary role is to evaluate and work on issues with supported systems that require technical expertise and/or are escalated to him or her by the Payroll Operations Team for those systems. Main tasks are to analyze and troubleshoot issues, resolve them when possible (such as when problems are due to inadequate user training or problems with software configuration or system data that the specialist can fix), escalate to the development team as necessary and pass on to the project management team issues that require software fixes or changes.This Specialist's secondary role is to assist as needed with database maintenance, ad-hoc reporting, and other issues that need to be dealt with directly in the database..Job Responsibilities:+ Become highly familiar with supported systems from the perspectives of both an expert user and a technical analyst.+ Respond to help requests and problem reports from the customer support team related to supported systems.+ Assistwith data manipulation and maintenance of data that needs to be worked with directly in the database because of a bug or because there is no front end to work with the data. One example of this is Agreement data in HTG.+ Prioritize workload based on established criteria and schedule work on issues. + Use troubleshooting skills and acquired knowledge to address issues.+ Resolve issues when possible, such as issues with software configuration or system data.+ Escalate issues to the second-level technical support (development) team as needed.+ Utilize ticketing system to track and document the problem-solving process for issues addressed, including decisions made and actions taken, until the issues are resolved.+ Document software defects (bugs) and pass them on to the project management team for prioritization.+ Assist QA as needed to test fixes and enhancements before their release to customers.+ For issues that require additional user training, provide that training or pass the issues on to the project management team if extensive training is required.+ Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.+ Under the direction of the team lead, prepare help sheets, FAQs, etc. as needed for recurring issues.+ Evaluate and analyze recurring issues for ways to prevent future problems.+ Performs other duties as requested by management.Requirements+ Able to demonstrate proficiency with transact-SQL: ad-hoc queries and data manipulation.+ Knowledge of how business applications work.+ Experience supporting and troubleshooting problems with business applications.+ Knowledge of and experience with support of web-based business applications.+ Knowledge of SQL databases.+ Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving skills.+ Excellent written and oral communications skills.+ Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.+ Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a busy environment.FLSA Status: Non Exempt
