SUMMARY: The Buyer III is accountable for taking approved actions to protect the company's competitive cost position by developing procurement plans; by determining appropriate contract types, evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating price, schedule and terms with qualified suppliers, and committing the company to contractual agreements with suppliers. The Buyer III will purchase products in support of requirements from Sales and Customer Programs; invest in products from suppliers in support of business plans and strategic objectives to meet annual company and individual goals; analyze and determine the best source of supply for product; and manage the purchase process, including but not limited to, providing continuous guidance to less experienced buyers, as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Know, understand and incorporate the Wesco Aircraft People Philosophy, value and vision in all behavior, practice and decisions * Know, understand and apply knowledge and experience in investing in products and meet Sales and Customer Program requirements * Develop and test procurement/inventory investment tools within JDE (or any other tools/platforms being utilized) * Assertively resolve supplier related issues impacting internal Wesco customers, including Wesco branch offices * Participate with the management team in leading supply chain specified process improvement initiatives, as assigned * Prepare formal procurement instruments * Investigate new products, product changes and quality and manufacturing improvements by coordinating with appropriate organizations and suppliers * Assume a leadership role by guiding and instructing less experienced personnel in the resolution of problems related to specifications, requirements, product quality, and delivery schedules as well as other issues * Maintain integrity of contractual agreements by knowledgeable application and incorporation of special terms and condition by working closely with the Strategic Sourcing team * Direct efforts of Supply Chain Delivery Planners in support of all procurement efforts * Maintain and issue supplier scorecards; developing action plans with suppliers where performance needs improvement * Manage metrics and drive improvement actions * Lead the response and resolution to department corrective actions * Foster increased productivity and adornment opportunities through personal commitment to professional development and by practicing continues improvement of processes * Train/mentor level I and II buyers * Attend regular and impromptu departmental meetings, and company-sponsored training and meetings, as required Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: * High School Diploma or GED, with five years of relative industry experience is required; certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) credential is preferred, OR Bachelor's degree in related field AND one year of buying experience; and/or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved * Proven drive to increase knowledge and experience in Wesco procurement requirements, and to provide value-added services to the department and goals * Demonstrated ability to successfully plan product investments in support of business plans and objectives * Proven skills in interpreting basic to general technical specifications and bids * Demonstrated experience in the skill of establishing and maintaining positive and effective working relationships * Ability to train and motivate less experienced personnel to excellence * Excellent knowledge of Wesco products and customer requirements is required * Strong verbal and written skills, with professional daily interaction with internal and/or external customers * Ability to analyze and evaluate data, and make sound procurement recommendations and decisions * Ability to reproduce established bids and learn to prepare and evaluate new bids * Apply practices and principles of Wesco supply chain policies and government contracting * Ability to maintain an effective liaison with suppliers, management, employees, and co-workers * Ability to apply knowledge of the integrated supply chain and database systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel, as needed * Ability to travel as required This position requires use of information which is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
